Nick Drake - A Gentle Soul

If you don't know this man, then I suggest that you go to Youtube right now, and listen to this. Nick Drake, in my musical opinion, is one of the best songwriters of all time, and probably the most unique guitar player to ever strum the 6-string. What is sad is that he didn't ever really get to enjoy his success, as his music didn't get popular until the past few years.

In 1974, Nick passed away in his sleep at the age of 26. The cause of death was an overdose of anti-depressants, and it is still speculation whether or not it was on purpose or accidental. Simply put, Nick's legacy still remains intact today and each one of his songs really tug on my heart strings. I recently bought his biography on ebay ( for $1.45!) and am looking forward to reading it.

Please check out Nick Drake if you have never heard his music. It will really tame your soul and make you see how he viewed the world. Some of my favorite songs by Nick Drake are: River Man, Day is Done, The Thoughts of Mary Jane, Saturday Sun, Northern Sky, Which Will, Pink Moon, and From The Morning. Give them a listen and let me know what you think.
